AquaVac* Ergosan*

Description: AquaVac* Ergosan* is an algine based immunomodulator. It is a completely natural feed ingredient.

Formulation: Extracts of Laminaria digitata and Ascophyllum nodosum.

Target Species: Fish and crustaceans.
Key Benefits:

  • Ergosan* enhances the fish's immune response to vaccination. The response of fish to vaccination will vary according to its health and previous exposure to the disease as well as the specific characteristics of the vaccine.
  • AquaVac* Ergosan* is recommended for use in conjunction with vaccines from the AquaVac* range.
  • The AquaVac* Oral vaccination strategy employs Ergosan* to improve the level and duration of protection in the fish. Oral vaccines are normally used to booster vaccinate fish which are in the environment where the disease is prevalent.
  • Ergosan* immunomodulator has a wide range of applications in a wide range of species and should be used particularly for non-specific disease or stress-related problems.
  • Forms part of the AquaVac* Total Protection Strategy and recommended for incorporation in feed used for delivery of oral booster vaccines.
  • Shrimp fed with Ergosan* show an increased resistance to non specific bacterial infections and increased resistance to stressful environmental conditions.
  • Excellent results have been obtained in field trials where AquaVac* Ergosan* immunomodulator has been used to help boost the fish's resistance to Rainbow Trout Fry Syndrome (myxobacterial infections) in hatcheries.
  • Ergosan* has also been successfully used during secondary infections such as Columnaris disease and Whitespot in trout.
  • Ergosan* can help prevent the outbreak of stress modulated diseases.
  • Ergosan* can speed up the recovery process after disease and physical damage and can enhance the resistance of fish to re-infection during this phase.
  • Ergosan* has also been used against Winter Sores caused by Vibrio viscosis in farmed trout.

Label Indications: Immunomodulators can play a valuable role in aquaculture where their use includes improving the non-specific immune response to a range of pathogens and enhancing the immune response in animals with a weak or developing immune system e.g. larval fish.

Dosage and Administration: Ergosan* can be mixed at the feed mill or on the farm at 0.2% - 0.5% of the feed. If added to pelletized feed, temperatures of more than 140oC for more than 2-4 minutes should be avoided.

Common Fish Farming Applications Incorporation Rate in Feed and Duration
Recovery from infection 0.5% for 5 days
Enhancing response to vaccination 0.2% for 5 days
