AquaVac* IPN Oral

Description: Orally administered vaccine containing protein antigens cloned from VP2 and VP3 of the IPN Virus and produced in a yeast expression system. The product has now been developed for use in preventing IPN disease in Atlantic salmon fry

Target Species: Salmo salar (Atlantic Salmon)

Key Benefits:

  • The only vaccine for prevention of Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis in small salmon fry.
  • RPS of 86% has been demonstrated in controlled laboratory trials.
  • Field trials have demonstrated protection in excess of 80%
  • Yeast expression systems tend to produce better glycosylated proteins that are more antigenic.
  • Reliable Antigen Protection Vehicle protects vaccine antigen through the stomach and presents antigen to the hindgut for optimum immune response.
  • Targeted vaccination program designed to provide protection through out the freshwater production cycle.
  • Reducing the infection levels in freshwater reduces the risk of infection in Sea Water
  • Compatible with injection vaccination to provide protection in smolts after transfer to Sea Water

Label Indications: This product is recommended for use in healthy Atlantic salmon fry to prevent IPN Disease caused by IPN virus. Protection has been demonstrated for at least 128days. RPS of 86% has been demonstrated in controlled laboratory trial. Booster vaccination using the same vaccine has been demonstrated to increase the levels of protection.

Dosage and Administration:

Oral Vaccination Method:

  • Dose rate: 0.1 ml per fish. The dose should be fed over the shortest time period possible (to a minimum of 10 days). The time required will depend upon the size of the fish and their feeding rate. The vaccine should be incorporated at between 3% and 17% of the feed weight.
  • 300 degree days should be allowed for the development of the immune response. The booster dose should not be administered before 300 degree days have elapsed from the completion of the primary vaccination.
  • Maximum antibody titre has been demonstrated at 300 degree days post vaccination.

Preparation of vaccine-coated feed pellets:
Bring the vaccine to room temperature (20oC-22oC) for 3 hours before use to allow the vaccine to become more liquid. If any separation occurs, shake the bottle vigorously until the separated layers are completely dispersed. Turn the feed pellets in a mixer, e.g. a concrete mixer, and slowly pour or spray the vaccine directly onto the pellets. If a sprayer is used, it should be set to deliver a coarse spray without risk of aerosol particle generation and the spray container must be completely emptied during the mixing operation. Mix the pellets for at least 2 minutes after all the vaccine has been added. Keep the prepared feed for 1 hour before feeding, to allow the vaccine to impregnate the pellets completely.

Withdrawal time: Zero days.**
